  22. Tell your customers to set their modems to not accept connections which do not
  23. negotiate V42.bis error correction protocol.  Garbage and disconnects on 28.8
  24. modems are frequently a result of a non-error correction connection.  Most modems
  25. have a command or s-register setting to tell the modem to not connect to modems
  26. that have failed to negotiate error correction.  This may cause more redial attempts,
  27. but when they get a connect, it will be solid.  This is a pretty common problem.
